wonderfull quiet place to spend the day with "guillemo"
on the beach!!
Just 40
km from bariloche city along 258 road to bolson. You can get
there through "macardi" village right next to the
forest ranger´s house. As this used to be the road to
bolson, it is gravel. After a short climb you will see the
lake and from then on the road comes down and goes along the
lake through woods and across beaches. If you wish, you can
return along the gravel road which ends in the paved road
to the south of the lake by the river.
# "Llum " pool:
Difficuly:
average
Distance:
66 km
Duration:
all day or 2 days camping
Description:
paved, gravel roads and trails.
If you
want to cycle all day long, you will have to start very early
in the morning, or you can take 2 days at a slower pace, it
is worthwhile. Along 258 road going past "gutierrez"
lake, you must follow the east bank of the lake, going past
the water-shed between the pacific and the atlantic oceans.
Before reaching "mascardi" lake ( km 24 ) there
is a short cut on the right. You have to take this gravel
path until you get to "fresh" stream ( km 27 ),
ride 1 km more along a bike trail and you will get to "tuqueco"
stream, watch out for pedestrians!! After a short climb, the
trail goes down to the pool reaching a wonderful beach ( km
31 ) , be careful because this last bit is quite difficult.
Then drop your bike and walk! Walk along the beach up to the
middle and go into the forest, you will find a trail which
continues to climb up to "llum" pool ( km 33 ),
pay attention otherwise you will miss it!
# "Llodconto" valley:
Difficulty:
average
Distance:
22km
Duration:
6 hs.
Description:
paths
For this
tour we recommend a suit of armour and a helmet, due to the
winding path thickly covered by "ñire" (
a typical bush of this region) this trail starts at the mouth
of llodconto river in mascardi lake. Just after crossing the
bridge there is a trail through the ñires. After some
short uphill and downhill rides you will get to "book"
farm ( 7 km ) , you must pay attention from then on , for
there is a marsh and there are many animal trails which may
mistake you. You must always follow the main path along the
river ( on your left ) for 9 km where the river crosses the
path. Even if your toes are frozen by the cold water, follow
the river down stream and 50m ahead there is a signaled bend
on the right ( it is very important, otherwise you will get
lost in the marshes). Be careful! Later on , the path starts
going down towards "steffen" lake. Do not forget,
this tour is 90 km away from bariloche city and back!
# Lower manso river:

river, cross the bridge and turn right. Follow the gravel
road for 11 km until you get to "el manso" farm,
cross the first hanging bridge over manso river ( it is forbidden
to cross it cycling, you must do it walking, one at a time).
You will go along an amazing path along the north bank of
the river. If you follow the main path you will get to the
2nd. Hanging bridge , km 104, across an incredibly green mass
of water. On the other side of the bridge , along the main
path we will return upstream to the first hanging bridge (

yet, you still have to return ¡!!!! 209 km to bariloche
city.
# Perez rosales pass:
Difficulty:
average
Distance:
55 km
Duration:
all day
Description:
paved and gravel roads
This trip
takes you across the lakes to chile and then a tour around
the chilean lake district. You must take the boat across nahuel
huapi lake to "puetro blest", which leaves very
early in the morning from "pañuelo" port
( km 25 ) , without wasting time, cycle up to "alegre"
port ( 3 km ) located to the north of "frias" lake.
This small lake surrounded by mountains will be the link with
"frias" port , located to the south of the lake.
While you go through customs and police control, warm up your
muscles because a 4 km climb up to the border starts there.
This road is wide enough for vehicles, so you will not have
any problems climbing it. Once you are at the border, ( you
will realise because there is a big log arch on the road ),
the downhill ride starts here. Fasten your belt tight,. Otherwise
you will lose your pants!!!! After the border, 6 km away ,
on your right you will see the police control ( show your
papers!). The road is quite even and it ends in "peulla"
port, 21 km away. It is a very nice place and from the boat
you will be able to enjoy "todos los santos " lake
, mount "tronador", and its surroundings. When you
get to "petrohue" port you will see the amazing
"osorno" volcano with its snow covered summit. Wonderful
places are waiting for you to explore them. Remember to take
your i.d. and the purchase bill of your bike, and some money.
